Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

At Sunstar Virtual Behavioral Solutions, our Intensive Outpatient Program provides structured, compassionate support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges while allowing them to maintain many aspects of daily life, including school, work, and family responsibilities. Through a fully virtual model, we help make high-quality behavioral health services more accessible to Washington State residents.

What Is IOP?

IOP is a structured level of behavioral health treatment designed for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy, but do not require inpatient hospitalization or residential treatment.

Our virtual IOP provides multiple therapy sessions each week in a supportive group setting while also incorporating individual check-ins, psychiatric support, skill development, and care coordination when appropriate.

This level of care can help individuals build coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, strengthen daily functioning, and create meaningful progress in recovery while remaining connected to home, school, work, and community life.

Who We Support

Our Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to support teens ages (13+) and adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Difficulty coping with daily responsibilities

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Mood instability

  • Life transitions

  • PTSD

  • Stress-related challenges

  • Trauma-related symptoms

  • Co-occurring disorders

We recognize that every individual’s experience is unique, and treatment recommendations are tailored to each person’s needs.

How Long Is The Program?

The IOP runs 3-4 days per week, 3 hours per day, for 8 weeks. Patients attend at least 3 days per week, with the 4th day encouraged for deeper engagement or as a make-up session.
